Papera's Saag Paneer is the first vegetarian dish to make it on to the JIMC Curry of the Month charts. Far from being vegetarians, it was one dish of three that we'd ordered as part of a taste finding mission on a random and highly entertaining night in Shinjuku (blog). The Chicken Chilli and Chicken Tikka Masala that came alongside it were no slouches, but this stood out so much that I personally started to regret that I didn't order a whole portion to myself. The thing that made the dish even more exquisite was the light and subtly sweet bhatura that accompanied it. A fantastic combination! I wouldn't try to convince seasoned veggies out there to take my fairly inexperienced word for it but I can honestly say it's one of the best meat free curries I've had in Tokyo so far.
