As is the tradition at thali events, once you have emptied a katori and are ready for more, you just stick up your hand and get a fresh refill of delicious curry. Though the refills didn't stop there: any of the nine items served up in the Navratan (nine jewels) were replenishable, and I saw at one stage one of my friends with a pile of cone-shaped poppadoms forming their own mini tower in the middle of his platter. I personally was having masses of basmati rice brought my way, and I ate through mountains of the stuff (all Indian restaurants should serve basmati). This, combined with Indian pickle (achaar), many pooris and chapatis, raita, salad, Indian sweets, and the three delicious curries (there was a dhal in both courses), had me all in a fluster and my only regret was that I didn't spend enough time getting more photos of the event (was overly distracted by the offer of unlimited Indian food).
Check back at JIMC for regular updates and notices for these special events. We will be covering and organizing these parties whenever possible. To find us just look for two large gents with serene smiles and the odd flake of basmati stuck to their faces. Hope to see you there!
