Along with the curries, we got basmati, a portion of roti, some papad and a couple of chilled Kingfishers. The curries were perfectly hot, and combined with the rice and bread were a delight. The Hyderabad, minus the absence of potatoes, reminded me of the extremely hot vindaloos that I used to order from my favourite Indian restaurant at home. The flavour, heat, and consistency of the dish transported me back to my home's kitchen table in the UK, where I used to share a heartwarming curry feast with my family on a Saturday afternoon for many years. Being the time of year it is, it provided more than just a fleeting sentimental feeling.
