Along with the papad we ordered tebasaki (chicken wings) and “Jumbo” chicken, and they were the next to hit the table. We were all big fans of tebasaki anyway, but with the tandoori marinade, they were blowing people’s minds left, right, and centre. The tandoori coated Jumbo chicken followed and the soft, perfectly flavoured chicken went down fantastically with another round of beers.
Now, I like izakayas and am never shy of the opportunity to go to one for a works party, but the fact that I could order a proper Indian curry while drinking sake is right up there on my list of best experiences of the year so far. Everything went down an absolute treat, and conversation stopped as we got completely distracted by the food. In between, someone managed to break off from the frenzy and order some more tebasaki (they really are irresistible), and by the end we were all basking in the glow of the warming curry and the convivial atmosphere.
